Campanula (Canterbury bells) is so named for its attractive spikes of bell-shaped flowers which make great additions to floral arrangements. This mixture has single and double flowers of purple, lavender, pink, rose, and white. Canterbury bells grow about 3 feet tall and blooms in late spring and early summer.

As a biennial, Canterbury bells produces leaves the first year and flowers the second year. Best in full sun in soils that are rich with good drainage but not overly dry. It is very cold hardy and can tolerate part shade.

Sowing Instructions

Direct sow seed from April-June outdoors. Lightly cover seeds. Grow on through summer and fall in groupings of 3-5 at 12″ apart. Keep soil moist. Plants will flower the following summer. Campanula is prone to slugs when young, so use a barrier like grit to protect young plants. You can also keep young plants growing in 3.5″ pots until they are large enough to handle predation and transplant them in the fall.

My Notes RE Bartering:

We are interested in bartering for organic or homegrown/homespun yarn, or other homegrown natural fibers that we can use for natural dying. We would also barter for honey, perennial fruit, nut, medicinal seeds or plants we don't have on hand. Other offers will also be considered.

You may scroll down to the Product Enquiry form to inquire about bartering with them and possibly setting up arrangements for a trade. All barters are facilitated privately between the parties involved. Barter at your own risk.
